What is Wifi-Electricity?

WIFI-ELECTRICITY is here to help you understand the next great revolution in energy. This technology, or group of technologies are expected to turn the world upside down!

Indeed, the principles around wireless electricity date back to the early 1900's when Nikola Tesla conducted a series of experiments proving this technology might someday be a realization!

So, what is this great technology? Furthermore, why has it taken so long to turn what Tesla new in early the 1900's into reality?

Well, that's what we are hear to find out. Explore our site for more information on the various ways that wireless electricity are already being used....and what the future holds for this great technology!

Inductive Coupled Systems

There hasn't been much noise in the press about wireless electricity lately, but at the 2009 CES conference some new technologies were introduced creating a buzz in the industry.

In this first article, I'll touch on the basics of Induction Couple Systems and mention a few products that are available or soon to be available in the marketplace.

Induction coupled systems are good for up to a few inches right now so they are ideal for short range charging of battery devices. The principles behind it go back to Tesla's early experiments in which electricity is "coupled" from one coil to another. What is a coil? Well, a coil is basically some wound up wire (although a specific number of turns are required to be most productive). The efficiency, or % of energy lost from one coupled coil to another is rather high in most of these applications which is why it works best a short range.

This technology has been around for some time, but most people don't even know it exists. Just think, in the near future you might not need that bulky set of chargers every time you travel….or for that matter even at home. A couple of companies are nearing production or already there, like WiPower. Another technology leader, Fulton Innovation, has a proprietary system called eCoupled Technology that they are licensing to key partners to help develop this market. Take a look at their websites for more information, I can't wait until these technologies start to enable our lives for the better! Hopefully by the end of this year we'll start to see more solutions to charge that iPhone or Razor, but for now check out WildCharge for a few options.

Chance of Market Success

Do you think Wifi-Electricity will be a widely accepted technology in the next 5 years?

  • Yes, it's right around the corner.
  • No way, this will never happen.

Revolutionary technology you are talking about is here for a long time. Do you think that your computer is wired to electrical network? Think again. Network current passes through primary of your computer's transformer, creates oscillating magnetic field. That field induces current in the secondary of transformer. Wires in primary and secondary don't touch each other! Your computer is supplied by wireless source!

Problem is that air has poor magnetic conductivity unlike iron. That's why induction coils (like those in transformers) have common iron core that conducts magnetic field. Without it, magnetic field would dissipate and efficiency would be very low, especially at larger distances.

Damn!!! This is what am talking abt.... this is cool...

god just saw the TED clip abt this technology...damn amazing is not the word....

Thanks Nikola Tesla for inventing this....and other for developing:)
